POC pursues bid for unified cycling trials, taps Martelino as mediator

SERIOUS in its bid for the holding of a unified event that will determine the country’s cycling representatives to the Guangzhou Asian Games in November, the Philippine Olympic Committee has tapped veteran sportsman Moying Martelino to hold talks with the two groups claiming leadership in the sport to lay down the ground rules for the proposed unified event.

Last week, the POC, through spokesman Joey Romasanta, who will serve as the country’s chief-of-mission to the Guangzhou Asiad, proposed the holding of a unified event to pave the way for the participation of Filipino cyclists in the quadrennial meet.
