The International Cycling Union (Union Cycliste Internationale, UCI) has calendared the third edition of the Le Tour de Filipinas on the Asia Tour from April 14 to 17 in 2012.
The Le Tour de Filipinas is the only race on the UCI-Asia Tour calendar in the Philippines.
Ireland’s David McCann of Team Giant Asia topped the inaugural staging of the race in 2010, while Iran’s Rahim Emami of Azad University ruled this year’s edition.
The UCI, cycling’s world-governing body, has 35 sanctioned races in Asia, including the Le Tour de Filipinas, cycling patron and former PhilCycling president Bert Lina’s brainchild.
The race is a Category 2.2 under UCI regulations—for men elite. The Le Tour de Filipinas was borne out of the FedEx Express Tour, Le Tour de Filipinas, Golden Tour and Padyak Pinoy, all of which were organized and bankrolled by Lina and Air21.
Dynamic Outsource Solutions, Inc. has been organizing the recent Tours.
