PSC donates old equipment to Philcycling

On the request of our President, the PSC board approved the donation of old and unserviceable cycling equipment to Philcycling. The request was timely since the equipment were scheduled to be auctioned off. Philcycling deems it better to tender the request on a plan to rebuild them for the purpose of either putting them for the cycling museum or for development of grassroots.

The federation gladly extends its appreciation to the benevolence. However, due to the advanced state of deterioration, the federation is encountering the issue of sourcing out the parts to be used in their rebuilding.

Interviews with several coaches reveals that the old bikes were stored previously in Amoranto Stadium and the coaches and athletes sold the parts. That could be reason why only the frames remain. It is expected that the implementation of stock inventory numbering and labeling will prevent this practice in the future.

This resolution SUSPENDS the grant of allowance to the Cycling Pool effective January 31, 2011 until the leadership issue for Cycling Sport is resolved by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).

Board Resolution 1-11

WORDINGS OF THE AMENDMENT AS MANDATED BY THE UCI.

1. The federations must manage their internal affairs with total independence and ensure that no third party interferes in their operations. They must remain autonomous and resist all political, religious and financial pressures which may infringe their commitment to abide by the Constitution of the UCI. Any external form of interference or attempt to interfere must be reported to the UCI.

2. Philcycling shall have an internal appointment system that ensures a complete independence of the national federation vis-à-vis third parties. In particular, the federations shall not allow governments and other public authorities to appoint members of the governing bodies of a federation. Any government representative who may be elected into the board of Directors shall automatically forfeit his voting rights in the Board, without however, the forfeiture of his voting rights in the general assembly in representation of his club where he is the Club’s authorized voting representative by himself or by proxy.

NOTE: failure to include the above provisions on the constitution shall make the federation liable for suspension.

SUGGESTED INSERTION POINT:

ARTICLE II. Create new Section 11 and Section 12.

ACTION TAKEN: APPROVED by the Board
FURTHER ACTION TO TAKE: Submission for Approval of the General Assembly

The two warring groups in local cycling finally decided to come together in quest of an elusive gold medal in the Asian Games.

Former cage executive Moying Martelino was delegated by the Philippine Olympic Committee to mediate between the two groups which have been on the warpath for years now.

And Martelino was able to unify the two Philcycling groups Tuesday at the POC office in Pasig City for a common cause of producing the best athletes who will be sent to the Guangzhou Asian Games this November.

“The meeting came out very well with both parties agreeing to work together for the formation of the national cycling team to the Asian Games,” said Martelino after the meeting that lasted for close to two hours.
